The Mission: To procure goods and services that prioritize recycled, recyclable, or biodegradable materials. To support local suppliers whenever possible to reduce transportation emissions. To minimize unnecessary purchases and prioritize durable, energy-efficient products. Core Principles Environmental Responsibility: Minimize the College’s environmental impact throughout the product life cycle (from sourcing to disposal). Social Responsibility: Support suppliers who adhere to fair labor practices and sustainable production methods. Economic Efficiency: Ensure value for money through responsible purchasing practices and lifecycle costing. Key Action Areas Product Selection Give preference to products made from recycled, recyclable, or biodegradable materials. Procure durable, long-lasting products to reduce waste. Seek out energy-efficient appliances and electronics. Minimize the use of single-use plastics and opt for reusable alternatives. Consider lifecycle costs when making purchasing decisions (including maintenance, energy consumption, and disposal).
