student led society whose purpose is to engage with sustainability of Education for Pure Sciences (CEPS) at Wasit University The College of Education for Pure Sciences (CEPS), Wasit University fosters a student-led society dedicated to promoting sustainability. This society fulfills a crucial role by providing training workshops, collaborating with faculty and staff, and raising awareness of sustainability initiatives on campus. Mission: To empower students at the College of Education for Pure Sciences to become environmental stewards through education, advocacy, and action. Activities: A prime example of their efforts is “Future Sustainability Week,” a program organized with the invaluable support of student volunteers from CEPS’s academic departments. During this week, volunteers facilitated training sessions on a variety of sustainability-related topics: The impact of sustainable development in developing nations, with Iraq serving as a case study. The current state of sustainable development in post-2003 Iraq. Educational Workshops: Organize workshops on climate change, sustainable practices, and environmental issues relevant to Iraq. Guest Speaker Series: Invite environmental experts, researchers, and activists to share their knowledge and inspire students. Campus Sustainability Initiatives: Collaborate with the College administration to implement sustainable practices on campus (waste reduction, energy conservation). Community Outreach Programs: Organize clean-up drives, tree-planting events, and educational programs in local schools and communities. Green Events:Host movie nights, discussions, and awareness campaigns to promote sustainability on campus. Partnerships: Collaborate with other environmental organizations and student groups within Wasit University. Adapting water resource management in the face of climate change in Iraq. The role of sustainable development in achieving environmental balance and fostering a green economy.
