Biology laboratories
1. Physiology and Genetics Laboratory for Postgraduate Studies
The genetics laboratory is one of the significant laboratories in the Department of Biology. The laboratory is distinctive in its inclusion of advanced instruments that are extremely useful for molecular genetics research, as well as the diagnosis and diagnosis of genetic diseases in humans because it includes tools for extracting DNA and PCR reactions. The laboratory has implemented a lot of researches for postgraduate students and the department staff.
2. Postgraduate Laboratory of Histology
The tissue laboratory is one of the vital laboratories that the student of biology should be familiar with because it teaches them about how to make microscopic slides for the optical microscope and the mechanism for preparing them and distinguishing between methods of preparation for different organs and tissues and how to diagnose in the field of tissue pathology, healthy tissues and imaging of histological sections. It equally enables postgraduate students to obtain experiences and skills in field of histological examination.
3. Environmental Microbiology Laboratory
This laboratory is crucial in providing students a clear insight into microorganisms by showing their structure, living, nutrition, and virulence factors. This laboratory also concentrates on examining the existence and medical importance of living organisms such as germs, bacteria, viruses, parasites, and fungi by isolating and diagnosing these organisms from their various sources and conducting practical experiments on them in the laboratory and the use of antibiotics and conducting experiments to test materials that inhibit their growth.
4. Animal Laboratory
It is one of the valuable laboratories in Biology Department. It enables students to be familiar with chordates, embryos, insects and physiology. Students become acquainted with chordates by manipulating compound light microscope to examine glass slides and by viewing the models that pertain to the different stages of the previously mentioned organisms. It also enables students to learn the embryonic formation of living organisms, starting with spears, frogs, and chickens, and ending with humans, the highest organism on the level of evolution. On the other hand, the purpose of the insect laboratory is to classify methods of collecting insects, arranging them, preserving dried samples of them, and conducting various tests on population groups of wild insects, including those prepared for research and studies, by exposing them to physical, chemical, and biological pollutants in line with the scientific development taking place in the world, which benefits the public interest of the citizen to get the maximum levels of public health and safety. The laboratory also tries to prepare students of the fourth stage within the subject of physiology how to draw blood and various body samples and how to deal with them, as well as how to conduct tests for body physiology.
5. Chemistry laboratory
The chemistry laboratory is regarded as one of the fundamental laboratories in Biology Department. This is because it serves both the first stage students to conduct practical experiments in the field of general chemistry and the second stage students to conduct practical experiments in the field of biological chemistry. It enables the first stage students to learn how to prepare some organic compounds, in addition to extraction and distillation of solvents and studying some physical properties of organic compounds and conducting analytical experiments. For the second stage students, the laboratory enables them to learn the basics of biochemistry, as it is one of the basic requirements for modern science, where the student learns how to conduct general life experiments (sugars, proteins, fats and enzymes) and various clinical examinations through the use of medical hand tools. These practical experiments put into practice the theoretical studies. The chemistry laboratory provides the student the appropriate environment for conducting experiments in terms of occupational safety, as well as the presence of explanatory posters regarding occupational safety procedures, how to deal with dangerous chemicals, and methods of preserving them in laboratories.
6. Plant Laboratory
This laboratory focuses on enabling students to learn all about plants from fundamentals and main rules in a detailed study and comparison of slices of plant samples from different plant tissues in the subject of plant anatomy, plant physiology and plant classification, gaining experience in distinguishing between monocotyledonous and dicotyledonous plants, desert, aquatic and land plants, as well as studying the effectiveness of different plants, diagnosing plant diseases and element deficiencies and studying their classification.
Computer science laboratories
Mathematics laboratories
Computer lab
Mathematics Department owns a computer laboratory equipped with the most modern technical laboratory tools and the latest programs currently used. It is designed to accommodate students. In this laboratory, the computer subject is taught, which teaches the student to deal optimally with the Windows operating system and the most important application programs in the Office software package. It is devoted to learning the principles of using the computer and for the practical study of solving equations, numerical analysis and modern mathematical statistics, and preparing scientific courses in addition to using the computer as an executive tool for students’ projects from designing programs and printing research and reports and other scientific activities in addition to using the laboratory during leisure hours to acquire skills dealing with the computer and doing homework and solving Mathematical issues. The reliable programs in the laboratories are modified periodically in order to complete the assignments and duties accurately and quickly in order to achieve the best level of information knowledge and skills.
